LG has quickly denied a report originating from South Korea which claimed that the company will be manufacturing the Pixel 3 set to release in the second half of 2018.

The original report claimed that Google was looking for a more stable manufacturing partner for the Pixel 3. The company had previously worked closely with LG on launching quite a few Nexus devices over the years and both companies have a particularly strong relationship as well.

However, LG’s communication director, Ken Hong, has firmly denied the story and called it “speculation of the highest degree.”

Google tapped in HTC to manufacture the Pixel and Pixel XL, the first smartphones which it designed completely from scratch. Since its launch, Google has sold around 5 million Pixel units across the world. However, the company believes that it could have sold more units of the smartphone had it not been plagued by supply issues. Even now, months after its launch, the Pixel and Pixel XL can be particularly hard to purchase in certain markets of the world.

Google is reportedly already working closely with LG Display to secure AMOLED panels for future Pixel smartphones. The company is investing around $880 million in the company’s display business so as to allow LG to build and set up an OLED production line.
