Taking a leaf out of Apple’s book, Google has also started hosting a ‘Free app of the Week’ promotion on the Play Store.

Under this promotion, the company will be making one paid app available as a free download for Android users. However, the list of apps and games are limited to the new family category, which at this point mainly contains games that are meant for children.

This week’s free app of the week from Google is ‘Daniel Tiger Grr-ific Feelings’ from PBS that usually costs $2.99. Downloading the app by heading over to its listing on the Play Store will prompt users to pay for the app. To download it for free, users must open the Play Store, scroll down and tap on the ‘Free App of the Week’ banner and then download the app.

With time, Google will hopefully expand its ‘Free App of the Week’ promotion to include apps and games that target other age demographics as well.
