The Samsung Galaxy S5 is now getting a minor update which brings improvements to the fingerprint scanner as well as the camera of the handset. The update is being seeded to the international model of the smartphone (SM-G900F) first, beginning with the UK.

Among the plethora of enhancements, the update will also bring a slightly faster Gallery app along with improved RAM management, which should boost performance somewhat. There are no other massive changes apart from these, but it’s good to know that Samsung is aware of the criticism and is acting accordingly.

The fingerprint scanner, which has received significant ire from reviews is now reportedly more accurate and can be used one handed as well. As of now, the technology is mere novelty on the smartphone with users preferring conventional unlock methods. Hopefully, this will make users more inclined towards using the fingerprint scanner.

Samsung is rolling out the update as an OTA and with Kies as well, so owners have multiple options to download it. Users can also download the firmware manually from SamMobile.
