Back at Mobile World Congress, Samsung unveiled a terrible mid-range Android tablet with the S-Pen capabilities of the Note 2 – the Galaxy Note 8.0. The tablet packed in mid-range specs with a quad-core Exynos processor and an 8inch 1280*800 screen, and ran Android 4.1.2 with tons of TouchWIZ bloat from Samsung.

Today, the folks over at SamMobile have managed to get their hands on an Android 4.2.2 firmware for the Note 8.0. The leaked firmware is not meant for official release, and is still a work-in-progress one.

While the firmware does not bring any new features, it does bring in major performance, stability and battery life improvements. Considering how most reviews criticized the Note 8.0 for its sluggish performance, it is nice to see Samsung taking a step in the right direction and fixing those issues. Samsung has also included the other Android 4.2 features that Google introduced including Day Dream, Quick Settings, and multi user accounts.

If you own a Galaxy Note 8.0 and cannot wait for the official update to land, just head over to SamMobile for the download links and instructions on how to flash the firmware.
