Galaxy S8 owners in the United States are reporting an update prompt for the “Enhanced Features” app on their phone constantly showing up tapping which ultimately leads to an error message being displayed. This is an endless cycle and happens every time one opens any of Samsung’s stock app on the phone.

Opening any of the stock system apps like Phone/Contacts, Messages etc on a carrier-branded Galaxy S8 or S8+ in the US leads to an “Update Enhanced Features?” prompt coming up. Then, tapping the update option redirects one to the Galaxy App Store which ends up showing an error saying the app is no longer available or incompatible with the device.

A one-time update prompt would have made sense, but constant prompts while opening any of the stock system apps is frustrating, to say the least.

Some T-Mobile and AT&T Galaxy S8/S8+ owners were successfully able to update the Enhanced Features, but others seem to be stuck with the Galaxy App Store throwing an error. It is likely that this is a server-side glitch from Samsung’s part and it should be rectified within the next few hours.

Until that happens though, you can switch back to an older version of the Enhanced Features app to solve the problem. You will have to manually sideload the APK of the app since the Galaxy App Store does not allow one to roll back app updates. You can download an older version of the Enhanced Features app from APK Mirror.

And just in case you are wondering what this Enhanced Features app is in the first place, it is an iMessage competitor from Samsung. Similar to iMessage, one can use the stock Messages app to send their friends and family files, photos, and more without having to incur any texting charges.
