Nvidia’s next Shield portable console has just hit the FCC. According to the FCC filing, the new device carries the designation 570, while the current Shield is 450.

There’s not much else we can learn about the device from what is posted in the FCC. The diagram (above) has a tweaked shape, but we don’t know anything about its specs. For all we know, it could be an updated version of the original Shield, but our money is on a proper sequel: a Shield 2.

If Nvidia wants to turn heads with this model, it needs to pack in more powerful hardware, namely the Tegra K1. ‘d expect to see a 1080p display, too. Most of all, the company needs to reduce the bulk of the Shield controller/console, as the original was rather heavy bulky.

l we know now is that the new model, with a new model number, has a slightly different shape passed all its FCC regulations for radio frequency emissions. ‘ll probably hear more about this model from Nvidia soon, perhaps at the E3 expo next week?
