The latest Kindle series of tablets from Amazon provide some serious bang for the buck. However, the biggest issue with Fire HDX tablet is the lack of a thriving ecosystem around them. Considering that the Kindle Fire HDX tablets are running a heavily modified version of Android, it is always a matter of time before someone gains root access on the tablets allowing the ability to sideload APKs on the tablet. Now, thanks to the hard work of fi01 and jcase, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 owners can enjoy root access on their tablet. The rooting process is based on an exploit, since the HDX tablets ship with a locked down bootloader. While root access will allow users to sideload APKs on the tablet, custom ROMs like CyanogenMod are still sometime away until someone manages to unlock the bootloader or find a way to workaround it.

The rooting method does not work on the Fire HDX 7, but it should be just a matter of time before a developer ports the above rooting method to it. Head over to XDA for the download link and rooting instructions. If the rooting guide helped you, do make sure to contribute to the developers to acknowledge their hard work!
