Android devices have become so advanced that a bunch of Nexus One(s) are currently orbiting in space collecting precious data to help mankind. On the other hand, there is still no way to control an Android device from your PC. AirDroid and other similar apps do allow you to transfer files, send SMS’s and do much more, but none of them actually display the screen of your Android device in real time.
TeamViewer, the popular remote control and desktop sharing service, has an app called TeamViewer QuickSupport that allows you to control your Android device from your PC. The deal breaker, however, is that the app only works on certain Samsung devices. Samsung might be the largest and most popular Android OEM out there, but that does not translate into everyone out there using a Samsung branded Android device.
Surprisingly, the last time TeamViewer updated its QuickSupport app in March, intentionally or unintentionally; they added support for devices running AOSP (Stock Android) or any AOSP based custom ROMs like CM10.1/AOKP/Paranoid Android with root access.
This means that the app now works on the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and even on any other Android device running an AOSP based custom ROM like CM10.1/AOKP/Paranoid Android, provided you have root access.
The app might also work on Android devices from Sony and HTC, provided you have root access, as reported by some folks over at XDA forums.
You won’t be able to download the app directly from the Play Store though, as TeamViewer has only made the app available to Samsung devices. However, you can download the APK directly from their website and install it manually on your device.
