Earlier today, Sony Mobile sent out invites to the German press for an event due to take place on the 25th. According to VR-Zone, they know what Sony is going to announce at said event.

It’s going to be the Xperia ZU (codenamed Togari), and it’ll have a 6.44 inch 1080p display. The display will use Sony’s new “triluminos” technology. Translation: AMOLED like saturation, but using LCD technology. This phone will also apparently have an 8 megapixel camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It will be IP58 certified, supposedly being able to be submerged underwater for 30 minutes at up to 1 meter of depth.

If all of this sounds crazy, you haven’t heard the craziest part yet: VR-Zone says the ZU will go on sale almost as soon as it’s announced. This is something I’ve only seen one other company pull off gracefully: Apple.

Should you believe this site? I do, though I’m not too fused if they’re wrong because the 25th is less than three weeks away. I’m a bit hesitant to believe that this thing will have a Snapdragon 800 though, mostly because Sony has a history of using older chips to cut costs. Take their 2013 flagship smartphones as an example. They both use the Snapdragon S4 Pro, not the Snapdragon 600.

Anyway, 18 days to go.
