After leaking plenty of times over the last one month, Samsung today has gone ahead and officially unveiled the Galaxy S8 Active for AT&T. Like with previous Active devices in the series, the Galaxy S8 Active is a more rugged and ugly version of Samsung’s current flagship, the Galaxy S8. (https://lsu79.org/)

The handset packs the same internals and features as Samsung’s existing flagship, though it features a more rugged and utilitarian design for people leading a more active lifestyle. Like the Galaxy S8, the S8 Active is water and dust-resistant and is also MIL-STD-810G certified. The metal backplate and the thick bumper surrounding the device also help make it shatter-resistant and protect it against shock, abrasion, tilting, and twisting.

Barring the rugged looks, the Galaxy S8 Active has the exact same feature set as the Galaxy S8. This means we are looking at a 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio display. Inside, the handset features a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, a microSD card slot, and the usual array of sensors and connectivity options including support for Gigabit LTE. The rear of the device features a 12MP f/1.7 aperture shooter, while the front houses an 8MP selfie shooter with autofocus. The rugged looks and thicker dimensions have also allowed Samsung to include a beefy 4000mAh battery on the S8 Active — up from the 3500mAh found on the regular S8+.

The Galaxy S8 Active is a “limited time” AT&T exclusive which also explains why it lacks the carrier branding this time around. It will be available in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold colors.

You can pre-order the Galaxy S8 Active from AT&T starting from tomorrow (August 8) for $28 per month for 30 months. The handset will be available at AT&T stores across the U.S. from August 11.
