Samsung has just replaced its head of design Chang Dong-hoon after heaps of criticism that followed the Galaxy S5 launch. The VP of mobile design, Lee Min-Hyuk will now take his position. While Dong-hoon has been relieved of his duties in the mobile division, it is said that he will still oversee the company’s overall design strategy, perhaps with other products.

Samsung didn’t explicitly mention that his replacement was due to the lukewarm response received for the Galaxy S5 design, but there’s no doubt that it was one of the contributing factors for his ouster. The new design head has been leading Samsung’s design team since the inception of the Galaxy lineup, which has been part of several patent trials over the past few years.

It’s unclear if this change will affect the design of upcoming Samsung products, but either way it’s good to know that the company is taking criticism very seriously. Considering that the company’s mobile design philosophy has remained the same over the past two years, we’re hoping this will bring about the much needed change.

The first of the devices which could bear the new design is the Galaxy S5 Prime which is rumored to break cover next month.
