Google today announced that the first Android One handset — the QMobile A1 — is now on sale across retail stores in Pakistan. 

Specs wise, the QMobile A1 is similar to the first generation Android One handsets already released by Google in India, the Phillipines and other emerging markets of the world. This includes a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek, 1GB RAM, a 5MP rear camera aided by an LED flash, a 2MP selfie shooter, 8GB of internal storage space, and a microSD card slot. Other specs include dual SIM connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 1700mAh battery.

Out of the box, the handset runs on the very latest version of Lollipop — Android 5.1.1, which comes with Google’s new Material Design, smarter notifications, and “up to 2x better performance.” Like other Android One handsets, the QMobile A1 will receive direct OTA updates from Google.

Unlike previous Android One devices sold by Google in different markets of the world, the QMobile A1 will be available only through retail stores in Pakistan for Rs. 11,500.

Google is also reported to unveil a second generation Android One handset in India on July 12th that will be made by Lava.
