Since its launch last year, Google has been slowly working on expanding the availability of devices under its Android One program to more regions of the world. Starting from today, the company will be selling its Android One branded smartphone in Portugal and Spain where it has partnered with local manufacturer bq.

The bq Aquaris A4.5 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD display, a MediaTek MT6735M processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage space, a microSD card slot, and an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash. It also features dual SIM and LTE connectivity, a 5MP selfie shooter, a 2470mAh battery, and the display on it works with gloves.

Additionally, being an Android One branded handset, the device runs on a near stock build of Android 5.1 Lollipop, and will directly receive all future OTA updates from Google. bq is offering a 5-year warranty for the device, which is unheard of in the smartphone market. Google and bq are also bundling three months of free access to Google Play Music All Access with it.

The bq Aquaris A4.5 is available for €169 in Spain and €179 in Portugal. Interestingly, an Ubuntu edition of the Aquaris A4.5 is also available from bq.

Despite some impressive handsets though, Google’s Android One program has not done as well as the company had hoped for. However, the company remains committed to the program and plans on launching a sub-$50 handset in India soon.
