If you own an LG Optimus G, you must be well aware and frustrated with LG’s handling of Android updates. But the company has some good news for its loyal users as the Android 4.4 update has finally begun rolling out for the smartphone.

Korean site, K Bench reports that the update has started seeding to Korean units of the smartphone, which means that LG has finally given the go ahead for all variants globally as well. We saw the update being rolled out in Estonia in late 2013, so some lucky users have been able to get a taste of KitKat before everyone else.

It is said that most of LG’s new features such as Knock Code are missing from this update, which is a tad disappointing as hardware couldn’t have been an issue. So barring the visual changes that Android 4.4 brings coupled by subtle UI modifications, there’s not a whole lot different here according to the source.

Judging by the report, it seems like LG was merely fulfilling a formality by sending out an update to its 2012 flagship with devices like the LG G2 receiving the update not too long ago. The company is prepping the launch of the LG G3 later this month and users can be assured of having the latest version of Android running by default.
