Following its international launch, OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 6T in India. The company dominates the premium smartphone market in the country where it leads Apple and Samsung.

The highlight of the OnePlus 6T is the water-drop 6.41-inch FHD+ AMOLED display at the front which is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. This helps increase the overall screen-to-body ratio of the device. This full-screen display is further complemented by an in-display fingerprint scanner which OnePlus is calling Screen Unlock. The company also claims its implementation of in-display fingerprint scanner is currently the fastest in the market.

Internally, the OnePlus 6T packs the same components as the OnePlus 6 with some improvements thrown here and there. For starters, OnePlus has bumped the base storage to 128GB, with a 256GB variant also available for customers looking for more storage. The base 128GB model continues to come with 6GB RAM, with 8GB RAM reserved for the 256GB storage variant.

The 8.2mm thick and 180gms heavy handset continues to come with a dual-camera setup at the rear. This includes a primary f/1.7 16MP shooter with OIS complemented by a 20MP f/1.7 shooter used to offer hybrid zoom and Portrait mode. To improve low-light photography, OnePlus is introducing a new Nightscape mode with the 6T. This mode will also come to the OnePlus 6 via an OTA later this week.

The same 20MP sensor is also located at the front for selfie capturing duties. As revealed earlier, the OnePlus 6T lacks a headphone jack, though OnePlus is making up for it by including a beefier 3,700mAh battery with its fast charging capability still present. There’s no wireless charging despite the device coming with a glass back though. And yes, OnePlus is bundling a USB-C to headphone adapter with the 6T.

In terms of connectivity, OnePlus proudly highlights that the OnePlus 6T supports 42 global LTE bands along with 4×4 MIMO and Cat.16 LTE. It will also be the first OnePlus smartphone to be available through a U.S. carrier — T-Mobile. The device also supports Verizon’s network this time around thanks to Band 13 compatibility.

On the software front, OnePlus is setting an example for other OEMs to follow. The 6T will run on Android 9.0 Pie with the company’s excellent OxygenOS running on top of it. There’s a new Smart Boost mode in OxygenOS that improves load times and multitasking performance. This feature will also make its way to the OnePlus 6 with a software update.

The OnePlus 6T will be available in Midnight Black and Mirror Black, though knowing OnePlus, they will end up launching more colors of the device a few weeks down the line. The device goes on sale from November 2 for Rs 37,999, with the 8GB/128GB Midnight Black variant coming in at Rs 41,999. The high-end 256GB variant will retail for Rs 45,999. There’s a launch week offer that will see customers get a Rs 2,000 discount if they use a ICICI or Citi Bank credit card for purchasing the device.

The handset will be available online on Amazon India, with offline availability expanded to include Croma stores, Reliance Digital outlets, and OnePlus exclusive offline stores.
