Just about managing to stick to its words, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei today announced through Twitter that the official Nougat update has started rolling out for the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

The stable OTA update for both handsets is being rolled out gradually so it’s unlikely that the OTA update notification is going to pop up on your phone before you head out for your New Year’s Eve party.

For the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus has also released the first OxygenOS open beta for the handset that is available for manual sideload through the company’s community forum.

With this announcement, OnePlus have just about managed to keep its word on rolling out the Nougat update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of this year. Sadly, some members of the OxygenOS team will be paying the price for this as they will have to work over the New Year to ensure a smooth rollout.

The Nougat update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will bring with it multi-window multitasking, custom DPI support, new Settings menu, redesigned system apps, and more.
