Motorola today unveiled its latest low-end smartphone — the Moto E — with a price tag and specs that aims to disrupt the low-end smartphone market in emerging countries like India.

The Moto E comes with a 4.3-inch qHD (960*540) display and is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 200 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz and an Adreno 302 GPU. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, FM radio and a 5MP rear camera. There is also a splash-resistant coating that should provide limited protection against water damage.

The back cover of the handset is replaceable and Motorola will be offering different colored shells, just like it does for the Moto G. It will also come with dual-SIM standby functionality and a 1980mAh battery for all day usage.

Still not impressed? The Moto E runs on near stock Android 4.4 KitKat and is guaranteed to receive the next Android update — a first for such a low end handset.

Moto E will be up for sale in India from tonight exclusively on Flipkart.com for only Rs. 6,999 (US $115).
