Motorola today launched not one but two new handsets in the Moto G series: the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. Successor to the popular Moto G3 from last year, both phones lack the waterproof capabilities found on its predecessor.

The Moto G4 Plus is the better of the two handsets announced today. Both phones come with largely the same internal specifications, though the G4 Plus comes with a fingerprint scanner and a better camera. Despite the naming scheme, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus also come with the asme 5.5-inch Full HD display.

Under the hood, the Moto G4 and its Plus sibling are powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 617 chipset. Both phones will come with up to 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage space.

The Moto G4 makes use of a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and features a 5MP wide-angle selfie camera. The G4 Plus, on the other hand, uses an OmniVision PureCel camera sensor that features large 1.3um pixel size and an f/2.0 aperture. The handsets also feature PDAF and LaserAF for fast autofocus times. As if the camera set up of the Moto G4 Plus was not already impressive enough, the camera app on the handset also features a professional mode that allows one to control almost every aspect of the camera performance.

Both phones feature a 3,000mAh battery with Turbo Charging technology that allows them to provide an additional 6 hours of battery life with only 15 mins on the charger.

In typical Motorola style, both variants of the Moto G4 run on the very latest version of Android — Marshmallow — with almost little to no modification. All the popular Moto features like a twist to quickly launch the camera app are also present on the phone.

The Moto G4 Plus goes on sale on Amazon India from midnight today. It will be available in 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB RAM and storage variants. The former is priced at Rs. 13,499, while the latter is priced at Rs. 14,999. The company will announce the pricing and availability of the Moto G4 next month.
