LINE The instant messaging market is all set to explode with major players like Whatsapp, WeChat and Line rumoured to offer VoIP services. First to kickstart the trend is Line, which rolled out an updated for its Android app today that brings the ability to make cheap voice calls.  The service, dubbed LINE Call, will be available in Colombia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Spain, Thailand and the U.S.A for all LINE users who have registered their phone number with the service. Surprisingly, Line’s blog does not mention anything about its new service or provides any information about the pricing.

According to TechInAsia though, a 30-day plan will cost users around US $0.06 for making calls to mobile phones, while calls to landlines will set users back by US $0.03, under the PAYG (Pay As You Go) plan. The iOS version of the app is yet to be updated to receive similar functionality. Line had announced its intention of releasing its voice call feature towards the end of last month.
