LG is working on a new smartwatch running Wear OS. But unlike previous smartwatches from the company, this one will be a hybrid. Dubbed the LG Watch Timepiece, it will feature a 1.2-inch circular display with a 360 x 360 resolution and analog watch hands over it.

This hybrid design of the watch will help LG set it apart from a bunch of other Wear OS smartwatches that are already available on the market. The watch will feature a stainless steel body, physical watch hands, and an IP68 certification.

It will also come with a Watch mode in which Wear OS will be almost completely disabled. This in turns will allow it to last for up to 100 days on a single charge. Otherwise, the 240mAh should be good enough for a day to 1.5 days of battery life.

LG will be using the analog watch hands in a very interesting way as well. For example, they can be made to act as a compass, barometer, timer, altimeter, and more when using the appropriate application. The 12.9mm thick watch will ship with a 22mm silicone rubber strap that can be easily swapped with any other band of identical size. LG will also be launching a Timepiece+ variant of the watch which will come with a silicone and metal strap along with an extra charging cradle.

As for internals, the LG Watch Timepiece will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 2100 chipset, 768MB RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. Other specs include support for Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi n, 9-axis motion sensor, and a USB-C port. There’s no NFC or GPS onboard so you will not be able to use the watch for Google Pay or tracking your runs without your smartphone.

LG is expected to unveil the Timepiece early next week, with a price tag of around $250.
