LG today announced that its latest smartphone, the LG V10, will be available to customers in the United States, China, and Hong Kong from this week.
It will also be making its way to “key markets” in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States throughout the rest of 2015.
The V10 is an “ultra-smartphone” from LG that features a second “always-on” screen above its primary 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS display. It also comes with dual front facing cameras that can combine to photos shot from them to shoot selfies that are up to 120 degrees wide. It also comes with a Dura Guard frame that makes use of 316L stainless steel chassis that makes the phone less prone to damages from dings and drops.
“Designed from the ground up primarily as a multimedia smartphone, the LG V10 is the ultimate device for the sharing ecosystem,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Consumers have been waiting for a true multimedia device that doesn’t cut corners. With the V10, we hope to show what smartphones are truly capable of.”
Under the hood, the LG V10 features the same internal as the LG G4, which includes a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3,000mAh removable battery. The 16MP F/1.8 rear camera setup of the V10 is also similar to the LG G4, though LG has updated its camera software to allow for manual controls while recording video.
Most of the carriers in the United States, including T-Mobile and AT&T, have already started taking pre-orders for the handset in the U.S. with deliveries slated to begin by the end of this week.
