LG executives have made it clear many times at the beginning of this year that the Korean company plans be releasing a phone that sits above the G4 in the second half of this year.

This piece of news was once again confirmed by LG Electronics President Cho Jun-ho at the company’s quarterly earnings conference earlier this week. Jun-ho said that the LG will be releasing a “super premium phone” in the second half of this year. With the sales of the LG G4 being lower than the company’s expectations, LG hopes that its upcoming “super premium phone” will help it recover from the temporary slump in its share prices. The company will also be focusing on the high-end TV market to get out of the slump, instead of entering new unexplored markets.

This “super premium phone” from LG will take on the likes of the Galaxy Note 5 and the iPhone 6s Plus. The handset is rumored to come with a 5.8-inch Quad HD display, feature a premium build quality, 4GB RAM, and more. LG is also contemplating launching different variants of its current flagship phone — the LG G4 — to further boost the sales of its smartphone division.

Will you be consider buying LG’s “super premium phone” if it is as good as the Galaxy Note 5 and the iPhone 6s Plus?
