Ever since its official unveiling last last month, the LG G4 has received a lot of criticism from reviewers and potential consumers alike over the lack of Quick Charge 2.0 support.

Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 makes it possible to charge any supported handset to go from 0-50% in only 40 minutes when charged using a compatible charger. This feature has become a commonplace in all high-end Android devices nowadays, so LG skimping out on this feature led to it being heavily criticised.

Now, in a strange turn of things, LG has confirmed that the LG G4 does indeed support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The company says that while it did not develop the G4 with Quick Charging feature in mind, the chipset used on the handset — the Snapdragon 808 — supports this feature. So, when paired with a Quick Charge 2.0 compatible charger, the G4’s 3000mAh battery should be able to go from 0-100% in around 90 minutes.

In the end though, LG still says that Quick Charge 2.0 is a “nice-to-have” feature, but not exactly a “must-have” since the G4 comes with a removable 3000mAh battery.
