LG’s newest flagship phone, the G2, is now available from America’s three biggest operators: AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Sprint customers will have to wait until the middle of October, but then again you shouldn’t be on Sprint’s decrepit network anyway. So what’s the LG G2 all about? It’s got a Snapdragon 800 under the hood, 2 GB of RAM, a 5.2 inch 1080p LCD screen that’s being called one of the best displays ever made, a massive 3000 mAh battery, and it has the power and volume buttons on the back of the device.

According to an early review done by AnandTech, it looks like the hardware is incredibly solid. That Snapdragon 800 is crazy fast, and it hardly consumes any power at all. It’s the software that I worry about. LG has failed to prove to me that they care about updating their devices. They typically launch a phone and then take a year to push out a minor security patch, whereas other companies like HTC, Samsung, and Sony push out updates at least once a quarter.

There’s also the Nexus question. If the rumors are to be believed, then the next Nexus will essentially be an LG G2, but without LG’s software. I couldn’t think of a more perfect device, so I’m going to suggest you keep your wallet shut until Google makes the Nexus 5 official. (https://fujifilm-x.com/)
