Is Lenovo going to begin their international push with the just announced flagship Vibe Z?

Lenovo is one of the world’s largest smartphone makers, but you wouldn’t know that if you live outside of China. The world’s largest PC maker has been slowly growing their smartphone business, and now it’s time to take things to the next level. According to the Chinese website CNMO, the company’s new flagship phone, the Vibe Z, will land on international markets by the end of this year.

What makes the Vibe Z special? Like most high end phones today, it has a Snapdragon 800 inside, 2 GB of RAM, and a 13 megapixel shooter on the back. Lenovo being a Chinese company, and big phones being all the rage in China, the Vibe Z sports a 5.5 inch 1080p panel. Too big for many, but for a lot of people, myself included, that’s just fine. The phone is also said to be around 7 mm thin.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on battery life.

Does Lenovo have a better chance at breaking through than ZTE, Huawei, Oppo, and other Chinese handset makers? I’d like to think yes, because Lenovo has become a leader in logistics. As anyone following HTC knows, designing good products isn’t good enough if you can’t secure enough parts to build them. Lenovo’s phones may not be the prettiest out there, but if the company can provide the volume, maybe even bundle their phones with new computers, then you might see them striking it big in the west.
