Before DashClock became the must have lock screen widget for all Android 4.2+ devices, CyanogenMod’s cLock was the community favorite. The simple widget displayed just the right amount of information – Time, Weather, and Calendar – and offered the right amount of customization options.

Earlier, the only way to use cLock on a non-CyanogenMod ROM was to sideload the APK. Thankfully, on popular demand and requests, one of the chief developers of cLock – David van Tonder – has released the widget on the Play Store under its original name – Chronus.

The functionality of the widget remains the same, except for the support for a slightly older version of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). The developer is also planning on releasing a pro version of the widget sometime in Q4 of this year with additional features and customizations.

Below is a full feature list of Chronus :

 – Support for Android 4.1 and later
– Supports adding as a widget to either the Home screen (Android 4.1+) or Lock screen (Android 4.2+) or both
– Select between Analog or Digital clock panel and customize the look and feel
– Choose whether to show Alarms
– Change font bold/normal in Digital Clock, Date and Alarm
– AM/PM indicator for 12 hour clock
– Weather panel with Yahoo! weather
– Color or Monochrome weather icons
– Minimized weather widget support (especially handy on lock screen)
– Calendar panel showing a scrollable list of upcoming events
– Tapping event opens calendar at selected event
– Taping calendar icon opens Calendar at today’s date
– Change the font color of all text in all panels
– Configure widget when adding or from the Chronus app in the app drawer
– Highlight upcoming calendar events with custom colors and font bolding

Chronus can also be used as a home screen widget without any issues. The widget can be downloaded for free from the Play Store.
