Just a day after rolling out Chrome 30 for Android, Google has released the first beta build of Chrome 31 for Android. The new beta build brings with it some significant new features and performance improvements.

Firstly, Google has added the ability to add any web app or web page to your homescreen with the new “Add to homescreen” option. Certain web apps and web pages will act like a native app and will open in a full-screen window, and will even show up as a separate app in the app switcher.

Secondly, Google will also roll out the new tab page, as seen on the latest Chrome for desktop update, to certain Chrome beta for Android users.

This new tab page will also bring a faster loading time while searching, which should help you save quite a few milliseconds (or seconds) on your searches. For website developers, Google has introduced a lot of new APIs that they can take advantage of. A full list and explanation of them can be found here.
