OnePlus 6

Less than two weeks after Google released the second beta of Android P, OnePlus has also gone ahead and released the second Developer Preview of Android P for the OnePlus 6. Apart from the usual bug fixes and enhancements made by Google as a part of Android P, OnePlus has also added some of their own OxygenOS features to the build.

The following OxygenOS features are now available on the Developer Preview of Android P for the OnePlus 6:

  • Face Unlock
  • Custom system accent colors
  • Proper support for dual-camera support
  • Ambient display
  • Ability to hide the notch display
  • Google Lens integration in the Camera app
  • Full-screen gestures

As the changelog and video above shows, the latest Android P beta build for the OnePlus 6 restores a number of OxygenOS features. However, some notable features like Portrait mode for the camera app, Widevine L1, and some other features are still missing. OnePlus says that they have also improved the overall system stability so the second DP of Android P on the 6 should be more stable than the first one.

As for the lack of missing features, none of them really are a deal breaker if you are really interested in trying Android P on your device. If you are already running the first DP of Android P on your OnePlus 6, you will automatically get an update to DP2. And if you are running an Oreo-based build of OxygenOS and are looking to upgrade to Android P, follow the steps mentioned here. As always though, create a backup of all your data on the device as your OnePlus 6 will be wiped clean during the upgrade process.
