In the early part of 2014, Adobe launched Lightroom, its photo-editing application, for iOS devices. Now, after a long wait, the app is finally available for Android smartphones.

Lightroom is a powerful editing tool for photos, one that has seen plenty of attention on the desktop for quite some time, and a lot of those tools are present in the mobile version, which is now available for Android handsets. The one thing to note right away is that this is not available, or optimized, for Android-based tablets at this point. Adobe says that support for tablets is coming, but when that might be is still up in the air.

As far as features go, the Android version of Lightroom is basically the same as the iOS version, including the initial free download. However, to actually use the features within you’ll need to be an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, of which the photo-specific subscription is $10 per month. With that subscription editing photos includes options for exposure, color temperature, contrast and highlights. Adobe also said that expanded preset support, like from presets purchased from VSCO, are coming at some point in the future, but, like tablet support, when that might be is unknown.

Some other key pieces of information regard the requirements of the app, which Adobe stresses includes at least 8GB of available storage on the device (and not part of expanded memory through a microSD card), and have a quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz at the very least. You’ll also need 1GB of RAM.

The app is available through the link below.
