Action Launcher

Action Launcher remains one of the unique launchers available in the Google Play Store because of the unique and innovative new features that it packs. And with today’s update, Action Launcher is gaining another new feature that makes it stand out from the rest: Google Now integration.

On the Google Now launcher, it is possible to access Google Now by swiping to the left-most home screen. This feature is now also available on Action Launcher, though only on devices that are rooted as it requires converting Action Launcher into a system app. Google does not offer developers with the required APIs to allow them to integrate Google Now into their launcher, but Sony recently updated its Xperia launcher with the same feature and then pushed its code for other developers to take advantage of.

Action Launcher 3.8 also packs in other usability improvements. The launcher’s code has been rebased on Android 6.0.1’s Launcher3 code that should make it run faster and smoother.

  • Notable enhancements including the addition of fast scroll in the All Apps drawer, a much improved widget picker, infinite paged folders and more.
  • Can select pure black color via Quicktheme.
  • Option for overlapping widgets.
  • Option for dark status bar icons (requires Android 6.0)
  • New shortcut triggers including music search, launching weather via Google Now and more.
  • Full support when using Samsung Knox.
  • Many performance improvements & bug fixes.
  • Option to enable Google Now integration (Alpha). Note: REQUIRES ROOT. Please see FAQ for full details. Option will appear in Settings -> Desktop -> Google Now integration (Alpha) for rooted devices only.
