Verizon to offer same day delivery of devices in select US cities

Verizon Wireless is jumping on the same day delivery bandwagon with a new pilot program that is kicking off in Philadelphia. The wireless carrier  is following the lead of other retailers like Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Google, which are also dabbling with same-day shipping in select markets.

Verizon is becoming the first wireless carrier to offer a same-day delivery to customer who order devices from Verizon’s website. The pilot shipping option will be available to customers who place their orders before 10AM on Monday through Friday. Customers will have to $20 for the service and will receive their orders before 7PM on the same day.

The service is now available in Philadelphia and will soon expand to New York City, Dallas, San Francisco and Pittsburgh. Though available to everyone, the service is expected to cater to the young and affluent who, according to a recent survey, are 56% more likely that the average consumer to choose same-day delivery.
