The OnePlus One turned out to be one of the darling devices of 2014, and so obviously there’s going to be a sequel.

According to a report published by Business Insider, and citing a source “familiar with the situation,” the sequel to last year’s One from OnePlus will feature a slight change to the physical design, which could also mean a noteworthy change to the pricing scheme. The new handset, which will apparently just be called the “OnePlus 2,” will apparently feature a metal frame this time around, rather than the polycarbonate body that the original One boasted last year.

This change in design and material could mean a change in pricing, though, as the report suggests that OnePlus could increase the tag to some unknown number. One of the strengths of the OnePlus One was arguably its off-contract pricing, so it will be interesting to see if the company changes this strategy, even if they do change the materials in the handset.

As far as any other details are concerned, there isn’t much to go on. However, for anyone that’s looking forward to the One’s followup this year, hearing that it could feature a metal frame might be enough to whet the whistle. Though, for those looking at the near future, OnePlus has confirmed the One will be available in 16 new countries within the EU soon.

Did you pick up a OnePlus One in 2014? Are you looking forward to its sequel?
