Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 Cortana

In December, the Cortana team over at Microsoft released the first public build of its digital assistant for Android. In its announcement, Microsoft had noted that it would be integrating Cortana into Cyanogen OS in a future update.

Now, the OnePlus and Cyanogen Inc. team have started rolling out the Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 update for the OnePlus One that adds Cortana integration into the OS. The app is heavily integrated into the OS that allows it to offer features like hotword detection and even change system settings. Simply shout “Hey Cortana” to your OnePlus One and Cortana will wake up ready to take voice commands from you. These commands range from scheduling meetings and appointments to setting alarms and even toggling system settings like Wi-Fi and Quiet mode.

For now, the Cortana integration in Cyanogen OS will only be available for OnePlus One owners in the United States. Thankfully, if you are not a fan of Cortana, you can remove the app from Settings -> Apps and switch back to Google Now as your personal assistant.

The Cyanogen Inc. team will also be rolling out updates for other devices running its software to add Cortana integration to them.
