As it turns out, there is quite a bit of demand for premium Android Wear running smartwatches. The demand for TAG Heuer’s recently unveiled $1500 Connected smartwatch was so high that retailers, agents and distributors have requested the company for a total of 100,000 units.

Responding to Bloomberg, Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer, said that the watch maker is now aiming to increase its production of the Connected smartwatch from 1,200 pieces per week to 2,000 units per week. TAG Heuer will also be suspending online sales of the smartwatch until May or June next year to give physical stores a priority.

Additionally, Biver also revealed in his email that TAG Heuer is now working on creating a collection of smartwatches that will based on different materials and varieties.

“Considering the success of this single and unique watch, we will develop a collection made out of different varieties, executions and materials at the end of next year or beginning of 2017,” Biver said. The extension could include a gold and a diamond set version, he added.

TAG Heuer had unveiled the Connected last month. The company’s first Android Wear running smartwatch is made of titanium and is available with seven different straps. Under the hood, the $1500 watch is powered by an Intel chip that ensures an “all day” battery life.

TAG Heuer will also be swapping the Connected for a classic Carrera smartwatch when the Connected reaches its end of life two years from now.
