Note 7 Explodes in Australia

With even a reportedly safe Galaxy Note 7 unit exploding on a Southwest plane in the United States, Sprint has now started offering consumers who are worried about the safety of the device to exchange it with any smartphone they want.

Samsung and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are investigating the issue, and until the investigation is ongoing, Sprint is allowing concerned Galaxy Note 7 owners who have already got their unit replaced once to get it exchanged for any other device from any of its retail stores.

“If a Sprint customer with a replacement Note 7 has any concerns regarding their device, we will exchange it for any other device at any Sprint retail store during the investigation window,” the Sprint representative said.

While T-Mobile, which started selling the Galaxy Note 7 again earlier this week, will continue to sell the device, it does provide users with an option to return their device within 14 days from buying it in lieu of a $50 restocking fees.

All the four major carriers in the United States started offering replacement Galaxy Note 7 units from late September to existing Note 7 owners , with Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile putting the handset on sale again from earlier this week for new buyers. AT&T is the only major carrier that is yet to put the Note 7 back on sale again. And with even the safe Note 7 units now exploding, it looks like the carrier’s decision to not put the device on sale back again has turned out to be a wise one.
