Except for the Xperia Z2 and Z1 Compact, Sony flagship phones have featured displays with terrible viewing angles. The company tried to make up for it by including some software-based processing algorithms like the Bravia Engine 2 and X-Reality. The latter is only found on its high-end devices, which selectively analyses and processes the content being displayed on-screen to reduce the noise and make the final image clearer.

Other benefits of the X-Reality engine include better saturation and contrast while viewing images and videos. Now, thanks to the hard work of XDA forum member xperiaz2, owners of low-end Xperia devices can also enjoy the benefit of  the X-Reality engine. The mod will work on all recent Xperia devices from Sony running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher.
