X-Reality

Except for the Xperia Z2 and Z1 Compact, Sony flagship phones have featured displays with terrible viewing angles. The company tried to make up for it by including some software-based processing algorithms like the Bravia Engine 2 and X-Reality. The latter is only found on its high-end devices, which selectively analyses and processes the content being displayed on-screen to reduce the noise and make the final image clearer.

Other benefits of the X-Reality engine include better saturation and contrast while viewing images and videos. Now, thanks to the hard work of XDA forum member xperiaz2owners of low-end Xperia devices can also enjoy the benefit of  the X-Reality engine. The mod will work on all recent Xperia devices from Sony running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher.

While users can still install this mod if the bootloader of their device is locked, they must have root access with a custom recovery installed. The flashable ZIP of the mod can be downloaded from this XDA thread.
