Sony today announced its next generation ‘PROselfie’ phones — the Xperia C4 and C4 Dual. The mid-range handset features a 5MP front camera with a 25mm wide-angle Exmor R lens along with a soft LED flash to help capture the perfect selfie in varying lighting conditions.

To further make the selfie clicking experience more enjoyable, Sony has included some new creative camera apps like Style portrait and AR mask.

Below the 5MP camera is a 5.5-inch IPS 1080p screen with Sony’s proprietary Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology. Unlike previous handsets from Sony, the Xperia C4 packs substantially less bezels at the bottom that makes it compact.

“Following the success of Xperia C3, we are proud to introduce Sony’s evolved PROselfie smartphone,” said Tony McNulty, Vice-President, Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications. “Xperia C4 caters to consumers that want a smartphone that not only takes great photos, but also packs a punch. Benefiting from Sony’s camera expertise, the 5MP front-facing camera with wide-angle lens lets you capture perfect selfies, while its quality display and performance features provide an all-round advanced smartphone experience.”

Under the hood, the handset is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.7GHz and an ARM Mali760 MP2 GPU running at 700MHz. Other specs include 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and a 2600mAh sealed battery. The rear camera has a 13MP resolution along with software based Image stabiliser and an LED flash.

On the connectivity front, the Xperia C4 features Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, LTE and Miracast. The Xperia C4 Dual — as its name suggests — is a dual SIM phone for emerging Asian markets.

The Sony Xperia C4 and C4 Dual will be available from the beginning of June 2015 in selected markets in white, black and vibrant mint colors.
