With a few weeks still left for MWC 2015 to arrive, Sony has gone ahead and announced its new mid-range Xperia offering — the E4. While the handset’s design is reminiscent of Sony’s past offerings, the company has rounded the corners of the device to improve its ergonomics.

The Xperia E4 also comes with a substantially bigger 5-inch qHD (960 x 540) resolution display compared to its predecessor — the Xperia E3, but with reduced top and bottom bezels in the front, which keeps the overall dimensions of the device in check.

Other specs of the E4 are relatively modest and includes a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, an ARM Mali-400MP2 GPU, 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, microSD card slot, 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front shooter and a 2300mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the handset features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and HSPA+, but lacks LTE support. Sony will also be offering a Dual SIM variant of the device in certain regions of the world.

The Xperia E4 will be running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box with no word on when it would be updated to Lollipop. The handset is slated to hit the retail stores of major markets later this month at a yet to be announced price.
