Thanks to a strong demand for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung expects the sale of its latest flagship to breach the 70-million mark.

Samsung reportedly received 20 million pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and is on track to sell an additional 10 million units within 26 days of the global launch of the handset.

“The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are drawing positive responses. I have no doubt that they will be the biggest-sellers in the Galaxy series ever,” an executive said ahead of his participation in a weekly meeting with presidents of Samsung affiliates at the company’s Seocho headquarters in southern Seoul, Wednesday.”

After a series of disappointing phones last year, including the Galaxy S5, Samsung lost its market share to Apple and Chinese OEMS, and also saw a steep decline in its profits. This forced the company to go back to the drawing board for the Galaxy S6, which also resulted in the Galaxy S6 edge.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge have been available in key markets of the world since April 10, and both devices have received overwhelmingly positive response from consumers and reviewers alike.
