Samsung today announced that it has started the roll out of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge from today, with updates for other Galaxy devices to follow. The company had started rolling out the update in South Korea for the handsets towards the end of January.

The Marshmallow beta program from Samsung gave us a look at what features and changes the Android 6.0.1 update will bring to the table for the company’s flagship handset of 2015. This includes a new theme for the notification shade, better RAM management, improved performance and battery life, shutter speed control and RAW image support in the camera app, and more.

For the Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung has enhanced its edge screen functionality with this update and added new edge screen features. This includes the option to increase the size of the edge panel to 550 pixels, up to nine customisable edge panels, improved People and Apps edge panels, a new Tasks edge panel and more.

Now, keep in mind that even though Samsung has started the rollout of the update from today, the update will go live in your region after necessary carrier testing and certification. This can take its own sweet time, so don’t get your hopes up on getting Marshmallow on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge anytime soon.
