Just over a month after rolling out Bixby Voice functionality for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners in the United States, Samsung today expanded the voice capabilities of its digital assistant to over 200 markets. This includes markets like the U.K., Australia, Canada, and South Africa.

For now though, Bixby Voice continues to be available in two languages: U.S. English and Korean.

Compared to other voice assistants, Bixby Voice features deep integration with system settings. This will allow users to control low-level system settings right from their voice. Additionally, thanks to Quick Commands, users can setup custom shortcuts to trigger a chain of events. For example, a “good night” shortcut can be created for “Turn on Do-not-disturb mode, set an alarm for 6:00 AM and turn on blue light filter.”

Bixby Voice is only available on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ for now. You can trigger Bixby by pressing the dedicated Bixby button on the handset or by saying “Hi, Bixby.” Samsung also plans to integrate Bixby with more third-party applications and services and expand it to other countries and languages over time.
