The Redmi Note 5 Pro is being hailed as a camera beast by Xiaomi. The company’s Redmi smartphones have never really been known for their camera performance but this time around, it looks like Xiaomi is turning a new leaf with the dual-camera setup on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The handset features a primary 12MP f/2.2 shooter with 1.25um large pixels. This is paired with a secondary 5MP depth sensor and dual-LED flash. On paper, this does not sound that impressive but Xiaomi has managed to take full advantage of the beefy ISP offered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset inside the device to extract the maximum performance from this camera sensor.

If you are looking to buy the Redmi Note 5 Pro primarily for its camera, check out the camera samples below which should give you an idea of how good the camera is.

I’ve never been impressed with the camera performance of Xiaomi’s budget Redmi phones. Their performance has never been anything to write about. With the Redmi Note 5 Pro, that is no longer the case. The handset’s 12MP rear camera performs significantly better than the 13MP sensor found on its predecessor in every aspect: details, dynamic range, and noise. The portrait mode is also pretty good for a phone that is priced so low.

What do you think about the Redmi Note 5 Pro’s camera based on the above image camera samples?
