Galaxy S6

The failure of the Galaxy S5 and its dwindling marketshare forced Samsung to go back to the drawing board for the Galaxy S6, and it shows. The handset is a beast in every sense and fixes some of the longstanding issues that has plagued Galaxy S series right from its inception.

One such issue with previous Galaxy S devices was the sheer number of bloatware they shipped with. With the Galaxy S6, Samsung says that it has reduced the number of pre-installed apps by nearly 40%. It also replaced some of its useless pre-loaded apps with Microsoft’s Office productivity suite, which will come in handy for a larger number of user, and to a certain extend cannot be considered as bloatware.

What Samsung did not reveal though, is that the other apps that it ships on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge can be disabled or uninstalled completely as well. As the screenshots posted by a member of the XDA forum shows, nearly all the pre-installed apps on the Galaxy S6 edge (and the Galaxy S6) can be disabled. This even includes basic system apps like Calculator, and Samsung apps like S-Health and S-Voice.
