OnePlus will not be able to live up to its promise of releasing the Lollipop update for the One by the end of this month.

The company had promised to rollout its own Oxygen OS by March 27 and Cyanogen OS 12 by March 30 for the One. However, due to a delay in certification from Google, the release of both OSes has been pushed back for now. As the company claims, the delay is caused due to “extra quality control.” By getting Google’s certification, all futures updates of OxygenOS can be rolled out over OTA without any issues.

The release of Cyanogen OS 12 has also been delayed. While the exact reason behind the delay is unknown, the Cyanogen team is working to deliver bring it to One owners “as soon as possible.”

To make up for the delay, OnePlus gave away five units of One to random posters as they had promised initially. Additionally, they have also promised to share updates about OxygenOS’s release every day with One users to provide them with “more visibility into the process.” The ROM will be released as soon as the company feels it’s “good enough,” which should be “very soon.”

OnePlus had initially promised to release the Lollipop update for the One within 90 days of Google rolling out the update, but failed to keep their promise. Then, they promised to rollout the update by the end of February, which they again failed to live up to, after which the company’s co-founder said that the update will be rolled out by the end of March.
