Squashing rumors about the OnePlus 3s that is reported to launch with an LCD display and a faster Snapdragon 821 chipset, a OnePlus spokesperson and Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, have confirmed that the company will not be launching an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3.

A spokesperson has confirmed to Android Authority that the company is “still producing and selling the OnePlus 3.” It, however, does acknowledge the month long shipping delay that exists between the order being placed and the phone shipping due to the unexpectedly high demand for AMOLED panels this year.

With Samsung being the sole supplier of AMOLED panels and almost OEMs switching to AMOLED displays on their devices, it’s not surprising that there is an imbalance between the supply and demand of AMOLED panels.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has also confirmed in a tweet that the company will “be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.” Carl also clarified that Optic AMOLED display on the OnePlus 3 is the company’s own take on AMOLED displays. While on the OnePlus 3, the company has made very small modifications and adjustments to the AMOLED panel, the R&D team at OnePlus is actively working on improving future versions of the technology so that eventually consumers are able to easily able to understand and feel how OnePlus’ Optic AMOLED is better than regular AMOLED displays.
