Moto E 2015

Thanks to a barrage of negative feedback and criticism over its decision of not updating the low-end Moto E (2015) to Marshmallow, Motorola now has had a change of heart. The company has silently updated its original announcement to mention that it will be rolling out the Marshmallow update to select variants of Moto E (2015).

The company now plans to update the 4G LTE variant of the 2015 Moto E in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia (excluding China) to Marshmallow. The exact timeframe of the rollout still remains unclear for now. It also looks like that the handset will not be updated to Marshmallow in the United States.

In certain markets of the world, Motorola had launched a 3G variant of the Moto E (2015) that featured a slower Snapdragon 210 processor, which is likely the primary reason behind Motorola not updating it to Marshmallow.

Motorola had received a lot of flak after it originally announced that the Moto E (2015) will not be getting the Marshmallow update. This was primarily because the handset was only a few months old at that point of time and Motorola had promised regular OS updates for it. Ideally, it would have been great if Motorola updated all the variants of the Moto E (2015) to Marshmallow, but at least something is better than nothing in this case.
