Ever since its re-launch more than two years ago, Motorola has been exclusively selling its smartphone in India through e-commerce website Flipkart.

The partnership had been going well for both companies, with Motorola selling millions of devices every quarter through them. Considering the fact that majority of the smartphone sale still happens through offline channel in India, this success was a huge deal for both companies.

However, Motorola today announced that it is ending the exclusivity of its products on Flipkart, and will soon start offering them through Amazon and Snapdeal — the other two major ecommerce players in India. The company will also start selling its smartphone through selected retail stores of Airtel in India.

Commenting on the announcement, Amit Boni, General Manager, Motorola Mobility India said, “Responding to growing demand from our consumers we have made a strategic move of increasing the availability of our portfolio across offline and multiple online shopping platforms. To start off, we will be available at select stores for our consumers to experience and purchase the device. Consumers are at the heart of whatever we do and we will leave no stone unturned to enhance their buying experiences.”

The Moto E 2nd gen. will be the first smartphone that Motorola will start selling through Amazon, Snapdeal, and Airtel’s retail stores. It is likely that Motorola will soon expand this lineup to include all its popular smartphones, including the Moto G 3rd gen. and the Moto X Play before the festive season in India begins.

Motorola has already met with huge success in India and by expanding its presence across offline channels and other major ecommerce websites, the sale of the its smartphones are likely to grow even further.
