Although Motorola’s presence in the MWC is very limited, the company has given away some interesting tidbits on its future. One of the prominent announcements made was about launching its very own smartwatch later this year in addition to the Moto X successor. The company’s Senior VP of Product Management, Rick Osterloh claimed that Motorola’s upcoming smartwatch will address some main user concerns like styling and battery life.

Motorola has previously launched a smartwatch-like device with the MotoACTV fitness and activity tracker, which turned out to be a failure eventually. But we came across a leaked image of the company’s 2013 smartwatch prototype which was reportedly being developed with Google. So the manufacturer’s plans to re-enter the wearable segment is now well within the public domain.

As for the Moto X successor, the smartphone is expected to arrive in Summer this year according to Osterloh. This device is expected to be a significant upgrade over the predecessor and should be available in a wide range of countries as well, thanks to the Lenovo acquisition.

In other news, Motorola has announced the expansion of its Moto Maker customization tool to Western Europe and Mexico. However, the company hasn’t specified if it will open new manufacturing units in these regions or continue to dispatch customized Motorola smartphones from its Fort Worth unit in Texas.
