Thought Moto Mods were dead? Think again. Motorola today unveiled the Moto Z4 with Moto Mods support. This is a premium mid-range smartphone from Motorola whose capabilities can be extended using Moto Mods.
The Moto Z4 packs an FHD+ 6.4-inch notched OLED display, Snapdragon 675 chip, 4GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor at the rear with an f/1.7 aperture. Other specs include a microSD card slot, USB-C connectivity, in-display fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, 25MP selfie shooter, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a 3600mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
The phone features 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass panels at the front and rear. The rear bottom of the phone also has Pogo pins for Moto Mods support.
The Camera app features a dedicated Night Mode as well which should help the Z4 in capturing usable photos in low-light scenarios. On the software front, the Moto Z4 runs an almost clean build of Android 9.0 Pie.
While Motorola did not announce any new Moto Mods, it did reaffirm that the Moto Z4 supports all existing Moto Mods. The handset will also be compatible with a 5G Moto Mod that will launch later this year.
The Moto Z4 will be available unlocked on Amazon, B&H, and other retailers from June 4 for $499. It will also be available on Verizon’s network for a highly discounted price of $10/month over a period of 2 years, with the carrier offering the 5G Moto Mod for $199.99.
