Earlier this year, Motorola’s then CEO Dennis Woodside stated in an interview that the company does not plan on releasing the successor of the Moto X until summer of this year. Now, if the latest tweet from @evleaks is to be believed, the handset is going to be released towards the end of summer i.e. sometime around the last week of September.

This means that in all probability the Moto X +1 is going to be the last flagship Android phone to be released this year before the holiday season. Generally, Google releases a new Nexus phone during this period but rumors have indicated that the company does not plan on releasing one this year.

Even though Motorola is now owned by Lenovo, the company has confirmed that it would still be using a near stock build of Android on its upcoming devices. Rumors and leaks about the Moto X +1 have been scarce until now, which is understandable since the device is still more than a few months away from launch.
